Self Love with Hey Pretty Girl

Do you ever see another girl in an outfit and think, “Damn, she looks so cute but I could never pull that off.”?
That was me too, pretty girl.
But guess what?
...

I once heard a quote that I now spread around like a high school rumor.

“Confidence is not ‘they will like me’. Confidence is ‘I’ll be fine if they don’t.’”
And now I am the one that gets told I look so cute and they wish they could wear outfits like that.
I ask them, “Who’s telling you that you can’t?”

And I’m here to tell you that you are the only person deciding whether or not you can ‘pull it off'. Do you feel good in it? Wear it.
As long as the possibility of you being mistaken for a prostitute is relatively low, you’re gold baby.

Mama Bird & Co. shirts are the best because they are so versatile. You can dress them up, down, sideways, cut them, tie-dye them, layer them, tie them… do I even need to keep going?
Plus I get to support a small business owned by a #bossmama that’s chasing her dreams, too.
Win-win.
To style her “Love Yourself” shirt, I just grabbed a few staple items out of my closet and played a mix and match game. I love the white tee with black lettering for that reason. Again, so versatile!

STYLE 1

High-Waisted Skinny Jeans, Flannel, Timberland Dupes

These jeans are from American Eagle, just like the other 95% of my jeans. What can I say? I have a favorite! Flannel is also from American Eagle, and the “Timberland Dupes” I picked up for $10 at the local Plato’s Closet. Hollaaaa.

STYLE 2

Destroyed Mom Jeans, Black Booties, Staple Jackets, and a Short-ish Brimmed Hat

As promised, these destroyed Mom Jeans are also from American Eagle. The camo bomber jacket is from Stitch Fix, and the pink blazer is a rented item from FashionPass (freakin’ obsessed ya’ll! Use my code HEYPRETTYGIRL for $35 off your first month!). Oh, and these cute little booties I also got for $10 at Plato’s Closet.

My hat is from the one and only queen’s playground - Target.

STYLE 3

Show Them Legs Girl! A Skater Skirt and A Mini

I literally haven’t put this skater skirt on in over a year. Probably because I hadn’t discovered Mama Bird & Co. shirts yet! I believe I got it from Plato’s Closet too! The zip-mini is from Zaful! You can do a full-tuck, front-tuck, or side-tuck and they all look adorable. If you’re not wearing anything over the shirt, I suggest rolling the sleeves once (make sure to get the part by your armpit to roll completely, that will help it stay!)

If You’re Wearing It - You’re Pulling It Off!

So here’s the thing, pretty girl. I would’ve been so self-conscious about wearing these outfits in public even two years ago. That hat? Just bought it a couple weeks ago, it’s my first one of the sort.Your style is all about what you love, what you feel good in, and how you carry yourself. I’m not gonna lie, there are times that I look in the mirror in the morning and go, “Idk who you think you are but I guess we’re rollin’ with it.” - I don’t suggest talking to yourself that way, but my inner-Tiff and I have a pretty sarcastic relationship. My biggest tip if you feel insecure about an outfit, is to just leave the damn house. And smile everywhere you go. Make eye contact, smile and say hi to people, hold the door for others. Being kind will always trump what you look like. Because these actions are so uncommon these days, you’ll draw attention to how you made the person feel and honestly, I always get complimented on my outfits when I do these things.

So get on with ya bad self, get a LOVE YOURSELF tee, and see how many ways you can play with it!

XOXO,
Tiff
